Community Housing Ltd recognises that people’s housing needs change as they move through their lifecycle. In this aged care project and other projects similar in nature, CHL creates small communities of residents that together maintain networks of friends and peers of their generation whilst having access to nearby retail, transport, health, recreation and support services within the broader community.
Community Housing Ltd has been creating small communities for the aged since it began operations in 1993.
Moreland City Council and the Fawkner community.
The Council leased to Community Housing Ltd an acre site for a period of 40 years on which Community Housing Ltd constructed 12 units (6 two bedroom of 90 square metres and 6 one bedroom of 65 square metres each.
The project was planned and developed over 18 months and tenanted in August 2004. 50% of the units are wheel chair accessible while others can be easily adapted at low cost as client needs change.
Four years later only one tenant has moved on.
Moreland City Council has recently approached Community Housing Ltd for a new project.
