With its recent approval as an affordable housing growth provider for South Australia, Community Housing Limited (CHL) is moving quickly to action its $8.1 million grant to build and manage 50 new properties in the Marion and Salisbury area with the announcement of Paul Ryan as South Australian State Manager.
In making the announcement, CHL’s Managing Director Steve Bevington said Mr. Ryan would bring strong experience, know-how, and good judgement to the role of growing CHL’s presence in the state.
“Paul’s skills will be of great value to CHL and to South Australians to ensure that the organisation is responsible for excellent developments and providing high quality, affordable homes to people on low to moderate incomes,” says Mr. Bevington.
“It is vital to CHL that it becomes a valued contributor to affordable housing across the state, and to that end every project we deliver must have a strong focus on the needs of tenants and involve high levels of collaboration with various stakeholders, such as the State Government and social support agencies. Paul will play a central role in making this happen.”
Mr. Ryan has worked with CHL since 2004, and brings to the role a wealth of experience in the strategic development of affordable housing, government relations, engaging with community stakeholder groups, and long term tenancy management.
Before coming to CHL, Mr. Ryan was Manager of Homelessness Services at Wesley Central Mission in Melbourne, and after arriving at CHL started as Housing Manager for Melbourne’s Eastern Region, before being promoted to his current role as CHL’s Manager Executive Services.
“CHL will be looking to make a significant contribution to the growth of affordable housing in South Australia of a scale which has a meaningful influence on housing affordability across the state. We will achieve this by making the most of the support offered by the South Australian government and in our ability to create successful partnerships with community organisations,” says Mr. Ryan.
