OBJECTIVES IN TIMOR LESTE

There are important similarities in the outcomes of providing good quality housing for low income communities in Australia and Timor Leste.

In both countries, CHL uses its expertise to benefit the people by building a significant volume of housing, promoting local cohesion, providing employment opportunities, and helping develop skills and community associations.

CHL’s four major objectives in Timor Leste are to:

  • Build housing that improves the quality of life for its tenants
  • Introduce durable, modern, and affordable housing whose design is appropriate for Timor Leste’s climate
  • Provide on-the-job training, especially in construction skills, that helps develop a skill base in the local population
  • Provide employment that generates income for workers and their families

CHL continues to strengthen its partnerships with the Government and international and national stakeholders, to make a real contribution in Asia’s newest nation.
