CHL launched its second international housing initiative with the establishment of an office in Valparaiso, Chile in 2008. The organisation employs four staff members who are driving the early development of CHL’s operations in the country.
CHL has already secured a project through Un Techo Para Chile (Roof Over Chile) to build 42 permanent homes in San José de Maipo, which is two hours from Santiago, Chile. Un Techo Para Chile is one of the most significant organisations in Chile, assisting local families to move into transitional accommodation from their current existence in slums.
CHL is partnering with Un Techo Para Chile to build permanent accommodation which will provide a sustainable housing option to those currently in transition. CHL has also established a partnership with Pacific Architecture Chile for local building and design advice and services.
